James Baker Hall Exhibition
| A former Kentucky Poet Laureate, and the author of many books of poetry and fiction, James Baker Hall is equally well known as a photographer. His photographs have been shown in New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, Buffalo, and elsewhere, and reproduced in APERTURE, POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY, POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY ANNUAL, THE AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER, COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY, and U.S. CAMERA,among other books and periodicals. He has published three books of photographs, ORPHAN IN THE ATTIC, A SPRING-FED POND, and TOBACCO HARVEST: AN ELEGY. He has won numberous awards as a photographer, including a Southern Arts Federation/National Endowment for the Arts Photography Fellowship, and first prize in "Photo-Vision 73." He has taught photography at MIT, the University of Connecticut, and the Visual Studies Workshop. From 1973 until his recent retirement, he was Director of Creative Writing at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. |
