Educational Specialist

The Ed.S. program of the University of the Cumberlands provides degree candidates and opportunity to enhance their expertise, skills, and credentials in school administration. Through an array of primarily online courses, candidates strengthen their knowledge of administrative processes, educational theory, and applied research. This content-based coursework provides the foundation for the practical, field experience activities of practicum classes. ?Candidates may choose to pursue a specialization in principalship or a specialization in supervision of instruction/superintendency.

 

Program Goals:

   •  to nurture an understanding of current theory and knowledge of the various areas of school administration

   •  to foster a mastery of best practices in educational leadership and supervision

   •  to cultivate a mature understanding of the importance of professional devel
      opment to all school leaders

   •  to strengthen an awareness of the complex relationship of schools to the community and the wider social forces of culture

   •  to prepare candidates to complete the licensure requirements of various states for the principalship, supervisor, or superintendency

Degree-holders will thus be prepared for more abundant professional lives in school leadership, and, if they choose, for additional graduate studies.
