Ms. Garnet Chrisman attended Berea College, earning a B.A. in Child Development in 1977. While pursuing an M.S. in Early Childhood Education at the University of Kentucky, Ms. Chrisman taught in the university’s Early Childhood Lab. Following her graduation in 1980, she moved to Coweta County, Georgia, where she taught third grade for ten years.
Ms. Chrisman, who joined the Cumberland College faculty in 1994, is a member of the Association of American Educators and the Association for Curriculum Development. She currently serves on the Advisory Council for the Department of Education and is a Teacher Educator in the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program. In 2003, Ms. Chrisman was honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award. Outside the classroom, Ms. Chrisman actively participates in numerous community service projects, and, in 1998, her contributions were recognized when she received the William T. Miles Community Service Award.
