Dr. Eric L. Wake
Professor and Department Chair

 

 

 

Dr. Eric Wake is an alumnus of Cumberland College, having graduated with a B.A. in History in 1965. In 1967, he earned an M.A. in History from Texas Christian University, after which he returned to Cumberland as a member of the faculty. While on a leave of absence from the college, Dr. Wake continued his studies at Texas Christian University and was awarded a Ph.D. in Early Modern Europe in 1973.

Dr. Wake currently serves on the National Advisory Committee for Phi Alpha Theta, the international honor society in history. For many years, Dr. Wake has acted as faculty advisor for Upsilon-Upsilon, the college’s award-winning chapter of this organization. He is also an active member of the American Historical Society, the Southern Historical Society, and the Kentucky Association of Teachers of History.
