Gina R. Bowlin, MSW, CSW
Assistant Professor

Dr. Bowlin is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Human Services and also serves as the Director of Curriculum for the School of Lifelong Learning. Prior to being hired full-time with the University in August 2007, she worked in the medical social work field for eight years and in child abuse and neglect for one year.
Dr. Bowlin worked for Professional Home Health Care as the Social Worker Program Coordinator. Her primary job duties were to supervise the social work staff in the offices servicing Laurel, Knox, and Whitley counties. She also completed case management visits for a program that exists to maintain in-home placement for the elderly and others meeting medical and financial criteria. Without the program, patients would require nursing home placement. She still reviews worker documentation on a monthly basis to ensure compliance with medical and documentation requirements. Dr. Bowlin also conducted individual counseling with patients of the home health agency. Previously, Dr. Bowlin served with Hospice of the Bluegrass as both team social worker and bereavement counselor for families who were facing death or loss. Her initial professional work experience was with Clermont County Children’s Protective Services where she managed ongoing cases with families who had experienced or were at risk of child removal due to situations of abuse, neglect, or dependency.
Dr. Bowlin is licensed in the state of Kentucky as a Certified Social Worker (CSW) and is a member of the North American Association of Christians in Social Work (NACSW) and of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Dr. Bowlin is very involved in Christian ministry and she and her husband lead the worship team in their church.
