Mr. David Threlkeld
Professor of Music
Mr. David Threlkeld has been a member of the UC music faculty since 1990. He earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Morehead State University and a Master of Music in performance degree from Northwestern University.
Mr. Threlkeld is the director of the UC Jazz Ensemble and is also the woodwind specialist at UC. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he currently serves as the Coordinator of Instrumental Studies for the department and is the Coordinator for the UC High School Jazz Clinic. He frequently adjudicates for jazz ensemble, marching band, concert band, and solo and ensemble festivals throughout Kentucky.
As a performer, Mr. Threlkeld is Director of the London Jazz Orchestra, The Little Big Band and The Dave Threlkeld Quartet. He has also appeared with such notable artists as Lou Rawls, Shirley Jones, The Temptations and the Four Tops.
Mr. Threlkeld currently serves as the vice-president of the Kentucky Association of Jazz Educators. Most recently, Mr. Threlkeld was presented with the Excellence in Teaching Award by the University of the Cumberlands.
