Dr. David Etter
Professor of Music
Dr. David Etter joined the UC faculty in 1990, and he is well known throughout the community for his work as the director of the university Chorale and of numerous musical productions for the UC Theatre Dept., including The Sound of Music, The Mikado, Camelot, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. He is also the founder and director of the UC Community Chorus.
Dr. Etter earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southern Baptist University in 1973. He completed a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In addition to his teaching and directing duties for the university, Dr. Etter frequently judges entrants at musical competitions throughout Kentucky and Tennessee, and has served as the Interim Minister of Music at several local churches. He is also an active member of several professional organizations: the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference, the Music Educators National Conference, the Kentucky Music Educators Association, and the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada.
