Mr. James R. Corcoran

J. Corcoran

Mr. Jim Corcoran has been a member of the UC music faculty since 1997.  He earned the Bachelor of Music Performance degree and a Master of Music Theory degree from the University of Kentucky. 

Mr. Corcoran is the Director of Percussion Studies and the Assistant Director and Percussion Coordinator of the UC Marching Band.  In addition to his teaching responsibilities at the university, Mr. Corcoran serves an Instructor of Percussion for the Governor’s School for the Arts.  Also, he is the coordinator for the Cumberland Drum Camp, and he frequently adjudicates marching band, concert band, and solos and ensemble festivals throughout Kentucky.

As a performer, Mr. Corcoran has performed with a number of artists and ensembles including Dave Samuels, Bob Becker, James Campbell, the Lexington Philharmonic, and the Lexington Bach Ensemble. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the current President of the KY Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.
James Corcoran is a University Artist sponsored by Innovative Percussion, Sticks and Mallets, Nashville, TN.
