Ms. Connie Howard

C. Howard

Ms. Connie Howard graduated from Cumberland College in 1974 with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education. The following year, she completed an M.S. in Recreation at Eastern Kentucky University, after which she was invited to return to Cumberland as a member of the faculty. Since then, she has completed additional study at EKU in Community Health, at the National Academy of Bereavement, and at Renew: the Center for Personal Crisis, Spiritual Crisis, and Traumatic Loss.

Ms. Howard’s contributions as a teacher were recognized in 1998 when alumni voted to present her with the J.B. Fuqua Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition to her teaching, Ms. Howard lends her talent and expertise to the community as the co-founder of and facilitator for Grief Connection, a service organization in London, Kentucky.

In 2009 Ms. Howard was awarded the National Death Educator Award. She was recognized and presented with a plaque in Washington D.C.
