Where is University of the Cumberlands located?
University of the Cumberlands is located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, in the southeastern United States. Williamsburg is approximately 100 miles south of Lexington, Kentucky and 75 miles north of Knoxville, Tennessee.

As an international student, how do I get to University of the Cumberlands?
University of the Cumberlands is centrally located between the Bluegrass Airport in Lexington, Kentucky and McGee-Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee. Both offer daily flights on most major airlines. Transportation is provided by the Admissions Office for students arriving at either of these airports when they first arrive. Afterwards, the Student Government Association schedules airport shuttles as they are needed. Please contact the Admissions Office (make a link) with your travel arrangements as early as possible.

Note: If you will be participating on an athletic team, be sure to communicate with your coach before making your flight arrangements. Student athletes are often required to arrive on campus for summer practice sessions a few weeks prior to the beginning of the school semester.

Do I have to take the TOEFL and the ACT or SAT I for admission?
It is preferred that you take both exams if English is not your first language. If English is your first language or you have been educated for more than four years in English, you need only take the ACT or SAT I. For additional information, see admission requirements.

Does University of the Cumberlands have international student housing?
While all students are required to live on campus, University of the Cumberlands does not have one location where all international students live. It is best for both domestic and international students to live all around campus.

What additional costs should I be prepared for as an international student?
Generally, students should plan on additional costs for books, spending money, transportation to and from your home country.

All full-time students are required to have personal medical insurance that will cover them while they are in the United States. Students must present evidence of an insurance plan the time of enrollment, .in order to waive out of the hospitalization and accident plan.

If the university has no record of coverage, the student will be automatically insured under an individual plan for $50 a month. This is a yearly cost of $600 and will cover you for 12 months. The policy will be renewed each school year and you will be charged this fee unless you obtain an individual insurance policy from within the United States. (The costs indicated reflect costs for the 2004-2005 school year, these costs are subject to change from year to year as they are determined by the insurance carrier.)

Where do most of University of the Cumberlands' international students come from?
While University of the Cumberlands enrolls students from 18 countries, many come from Asia, Africa, Australia, England, and throughout Europe.
