Q & A with Randy

1. Why did you choose University of the Cumberlands?

I chose UC because I knew the faculty would take a personal interest in me. They truly care about the success of the individual.

2. What is there to do on the weekends?

UC has two organizations that provide activities for students during the school year; CAB (Campus Activities Board) and SGA (Student Government Association). These activities include movie nights, game shows, comedians, sports tournaments, etc. You can always find something to do.

3. What is the food like?

The food is GREAT (personal opinion)! In the dining hall, you have a choice of just about anything you can think of. In the Grill, it is all made fresh to order.

4. What are the residence halls like?

The residence halls are a great place to spend your free time with friends. Each room comes equipped with cable, phone and Internet hook-ups. All but one of the residence halls are air-conditioned, so it’s a comfortable living environment.

5. Do you feel safe on campus?

Williamsburg is a small, student-friendly town. I personally feel very safe on campus. Campus Security is located at the entrance to campus and will provide escort service at night when asked.

6. What recommendations do you have for incoming students?

Get out there, make new friends and get involved! Obviously, you are here to get an education, but your involvement on campus will really enhance your college experience.

7. Is it hard to balance academics with extra curricular activities?

For some it is harder than others, especially since the college schedule is so different than a high school schedule. In Insights, the freshman orientation course, they discuss time management in depth. Be organized and responsible and you shouldn’t have too much of a problem.

8. Where do you see yourself after you graduate from UC?

I plan to attend seminary and become a youth minister.
