University of the Cumberlands Cheerleading Season Review
The 2004-05 season was a successful one for the University of the Cumberlands cheerleading program.
This year’s team worked through numerous injuries and setbacks early in the season to gather and earn the success that comes with hard work.
Under new management for the 04-05 season, the team showed incredible talent and a vast array of new ideas and new skills that would allow them to propel themselves to the top of the Mid-South Conference. The team pushed through the season cheering for all home football, men and women’s basketball contests.
The team traveled to Frankfort, KY to compete in the Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Competition on March 3rd where, after numerous practices and much conditioning, took home second place. The second place finish was a step up from last year’s performance where the Patriot cheerleaders took third. Greg Foley and Nicole Powers also earned Mid-South Conference All-Conference accolades as they received places on the Mid-South Conference All-Conference squad.
This year’s team also had a stunt group place third in the individual stunt competition, which was yet another incredible accomplishment for the team. The stunt group consisted of Tabitha Middleton, Beth Wooley, Crystal Goforth, Heather Parks, and Amanda Farris. This talented group performed a showcase of very elite and difficult stunts to capture third place.
The cheerleading team not only has talent on the mats to be proud of, but also in the classroom as students. Cheerleaders Matt McCoy, Nikki Powers, Lindsey Hufford, Tarrah Minor, Laura Adams, and Shawna New all received Mid-South Conference All-Academic.
This year the cheerleading program was quite an accomplished team.
