The 2007-08 season was a successful one for the University of the Cumberlands cheerleading program.
This year’s team worked through numerous injuries and setbacks early in the season to gather and earn the success that comes with hard work.
Under new management for the 07-08 season, the team showed incredible talent and a vast array of new ideas and new skills that would allow them to propel themselves to the top of the Mid-South Conference. The team pushed through the season cheering for all home football, men and women’s basketball contests.
The team traveled to Pikeville, KY to compete in the Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Competition in March where, after numerous practices and much conditioning, took home second place. Greg Foley and Danni Barton also earned first place in the Co-Ed Partner Stunt Competition. Amanda Farris and Amy Shemwell earned Mid-South Conference All-Conference accolades as they received places on the Mid-South Conference All-Conference squad.
The cheerleading team not only has talent on the mats to be proud of, but also in the classroom as students. Cheerleaders Amy Shemwell, Whitney Horn, Debra Iles, and Erin White all received Mid-South Conference All-Academic.
This year the cheerleading program was quite an accomplished team.
