Cumberland College Men’s Golf 2004-2005 Wrap-Up

 This season the Cumberland College men’s golf team took turns carrying each others clubs. Leading the way during the year was senior Barron Davis who was named the Mid-South Conference golfer of the week two out of five weeks, along with being named to the All-Region Team. However, senior Eddie Parman was named to the Mid-South All-Conference Team and the All-Region Team. Junior Eric King was named to the Mid-South All-Conference Team for his play as well. This team finished first in the Mid-South Conference tournament and second in the Regional Tournament. In the Regional Tournament the men placed the highest in school history with a second place finish. The team consisted of Eddie Parman, Barron Davis, Eric King, freshmen Justin Price, and freshmen Anthony Savage. The Patriots finished with a record of 61-41-2.

The season started out with the Patriots hosting the Cumberland College Fall Invitational, where the men placed fifth, with a score of 602. Davis finished the day with a first place finish with a score of 142, which was two under par. The men then traveled to Georgetown, KY for the Bluegrass Fall Classic, where they tied for third with a score of 296. Parman, Davis, and Tyrus York lead the Patriots and made the All-Tournament Team. York had a round of 71, which was a career low. The men then headed to the Kentucky Independent College Tournament where they placed first with a score of 615. Davis placed first with a 143, which gave him his third career win. Davis and Parman, 153 and tied for sixth, made the All-Tournament Team. The men then picked up their clubs and headed to the EKU Colonel Classic where they placed eleventh with a score of 901. The Patriots then headed to Campbellsville, KY for the Don Bishop Invitational where they placed third with a score of 603. Leading the way was King who tied for second and made the All-Tournament Team. King had a round of 70, which was two under par, his career low. The team then grabbed their bags and headed to Jackson, TN for the Lambuth Invitational where they placed third with a score of 625. The team was lead by Parman and King, 155. The last tournament the men would play for the fall season would be the Jack Shadwick Invitational where they placed fourth with a score of 604. Leading the team was Davis with a 148, placing him on the All-Tournament Team.

The season would pick up again in the spring with the Campbellsville Spring Invitational where the Patriot men placed fifth with a score of 321 with Savage leading the way with a tenth place finish. The men then traveled to Daytona Beach, FL during spring break for the 15 th Annual Eagle Invitational where they placed 12 th with a score of 612. The Patriots then headed to the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate where they placed fourth with a score of 611. Parman lead the way with an 11 th place finish, 150. The men then traveled to Prestonsburg, KY for the Pikeville College Invitational where they placed second with a score of 619. King led the way with a second place finish, 150. The Patriots then competed in Louisville, KY at the Mid-South Conference Tournament capturing the trophy with a score of 608. Leading the way was Davis (149), who tied for second. By winning the Mid-South Conference crown the Patriots received an automatic bid to the NAIA Region XI Tournament. The men would finish the regional tournament with a second place finish and a score of 915 led by Parman(221) and Davis (228).

The Patriots are looking forward to next season to pick up where they left off and continue to improve and advance to the NAIA National Tournament. They will have to replace three seniors who have carried a majority of the load for several years in Barron Davis (Big Stone Gap, VA), Eddie Parman ( London, KY), and Tyrus York ( Harlan, KY).
