University of the Cumberlands Women's Golf Spring 2005 Preview
After falling last spring season in the Regional tournament and not advancing to Nationals, the Patriot women’s golf team has a battle to fight.
The team returns the 2004 Mid-South Golfer of the year, two all-conference honorees, and two academic all-conference golfers. The returnees are: seniors Elizabeth Bryant (Irvine, KY) and Trisha Price (Auburn, IL), and sophomores Katie Bowers (Cadiz, KY) and Jennifer Kieffer (Rockford, IL). However, freshman Shannon Schottelkotte (Greenfield, OH) should not be overlooked.
This fall, the women captured third place at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational. Kieffer putted her way to a third place finish overall in individual play. Price finished out the top ten individual places in tenth place with an 86. The team placed fourth at the Lambuth Invitational and the Don Bishop Invitational in Campbellsville, KY. Kieffer came out with an All-tournament team finish at the Don Bishop Invitational after her third place overall individual finish. At Georgetown College’s tournament, Kieffer had a low score for the team with an 89, and Bryant came out with a 91.
Cumberlands has a tough schedule ahead of them in order to make it to the National Championships. In the conference both Campbellsville University and Lindsey Wilson College are ranked ahead of the Patriot ladies. The women will start their season off on March 7th and the Campbellsville University Invitational.
