University of the Cumberlands Women's Golf Spring 2007 Preview
Spring is near and the women’s golf team is ready to begin. Coach Bill Sergent set a goal for the women, “To continue to work hard and improve tournament by tournament.” Sergent also commented about the season saying, “We have a very strong conference, so it will be tough to compete for the title this year, but hopefully sometime soon.”
The Patriots lost All Conference Player three years in row, Jennifer Kieffer, and she will be extremely tough to replace.
During the fall season, the ladies competed in four tournaments. To start the season off, the women hosted the University of the Cumberlands Fall Invite, where the ladies finished the tournament in 6 th place. Cumberlands then competed in the Don Bishop Tournament at Campbellsville University and finished the tournament in 6 th place with a combined score of 910. At Centre College the women tied for 2 nd with Sewanee State and they finished their season off at the Lindsey Wilson College Invitational placing 8 th.
Sergent commented, “All of our tournaments will be very competitive and we will play as good and compete as hard as we can.”
The women’s team is a young team, but they are ready to compete with the best as they look forward to a new season. They kick off the spring season traveling to Campbellsville University on March 22, 2007.
