Women’s Golf 2005-2006 Wrap-Up
The 2005-2006 season was a very difficult one for the University of the Cumberlands women's golf team, beginning the season with three players, but ending it with only one due to injuries.
Finishing out her senior year, Jennifer Kieffer was the only Patriot to finish the golf season. Kieffer played her last golf tournament at the NAIA XI Tournament at the Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, KY with a final score of 181 where she was also recognized as an All-American Conference player. Kieffer also played solo in the Campbellsville University Spring Invitational where she placed 3rd with a final score of 91.
Senior Katie Bowers was unable to finish the spring season due to a shoulder injury, but during her senior season, Bowers was very successful.
Starting the spring season off at the Lincoln Memorial University Spring Invitational, Kieffer finished with a score of 173, while Bowers finished with a score of 207. The ladies also hosted the University of the Cumberlands Spring Invitational, where Kieffer placed 6th with a final score of 168, and Bowers placed 15th with a score of 180. As the spring season progressed, both ladies placed in the remaining tournaments. In the Centre College Tournament, Kieffer came in 4th with a total of 90 and Bowers finished 13th with a total of 91. The ladies dominated at the Georgetown Invitational both finishing in the top 10. Kieffer finished 4th with a score of 83, as Bowers finished in 6th with a final score of 91.
The ladies will lose Kieffer and Bowers to graduation, but Shannon Schottelkotte will be returning from a previous injury and a wealth of talented newcomers will look to the greens this fall.
