    <title>Cumberlands Kraftick Records Memories at Ryder Cup</title>

    <description>The University of the Cumberlands' fall golf season is currently winding down their 2008 schedule.  As the Patriot student athletes strive to be their best on the links, Cumberlands Head Golf Coach Chris Kraftick has been promoting the University proudly as well.  At the 2008 37th Ryder Cup at Valhalla Golf Club located in Louisville Kentucky, Coach Chris Kraftick was on the green with the pros.</description>

    <title>Cumberlands Swimming Wins Season Opener</title>

    <description>The University of the Cumberlands Swim Team hosted their first meet as they opened up the 2008-2009 season against Union College on Saturday October 11, 2008. The final results saw the Patriots take the wins with a final of 115-72 for the women and 126-70 for the men.</description>

    <title>Patriot JV Women&acirc;s Wrestling Dominates Missouri Valley College</title>

    <description>The University of the Cumberlands Women's Wrestling Team lived up to their #1 ranking on Saturday, October 11, 2008, with an impressive outing against Missouri Valley. The Patriots JV team consisted of many freshmen, and a handful of sophomores, who won over half of their 54 matches, defeating Missouri Valley College 33-21.</description>

    <title>Women&acirc;s Soccer Posts Wins over Lady Trojans and Golden Bears</title>

    <description>This week, the University of the Cumberlands Women's Soccer Team took on the Trojans from Trevecca Nazarene University in non-conference action.   The Cumberlands defeated the Trojans 3-1 on October 7th.   On October 10th, the Patriots traveled to Charleston, WV to take on the Mid-South Conference Golden Bears of West Virginia Tech.    The Cumberlands came out on top again to run their conference record to 3-0 by defeating the Bears 1-0.</description>

    <description>The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently announced the Men's Soccer Top 25 Regular Season Poll for the week of October 7th.   The University of the Cumberlands Men's Soccer Team received a total of 22 votes, which ranked the Patriots in 34th place.</description>

    <title>Men's Cross Country Team Grasp 35th Place in NAIA Poll</title>

    <description>The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 5th regular season Top 25 Men's Cross Country Coaches Poll for the week ending on October 7th.   Once again the University of the Cumberlands Men's Cross Country Team earned votes, but fell short of grasping a spot in the top 25.   The Cumberlands received 14 votes to rank them in 35th place.</description>

    <description>The University of the Cumberlands Patriot Volleyball Team competed against Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville University this past Tuesday. The Lady Tigers won the first two sets but the Patriots came back for a third set win. However, Campbellsville came out on top in the final set to take the &quot;W&quot; (25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 25-12). </description>

    <title>Patriot Golf Claims 2nd in Shadwick and Bishop Invitational&acirc;s; Women Take 4th at Bishop</title>

    <description>The University of the Cumberlands Men's Golf team traveled to Seneca, SC for a two day tournament on September 29th and 30th where they competed against nine other teams. After day one of the Jack Shadwick Invitational hosted by Southern Wesleyan University, Cumberlands was in second place with a score of 302, shortly behind Lindsey Wilson College with a score of 297. </description>

Medders was invited by Wisconsin Wrestling Coach Barry Davis to speak about and demonstrate wrestling techniques that Medders uses for the Cumberlands wrestling program.  </description>

    <title>Volleyball to Compete in "Dig for the Cure" Tournament</title>

    <description>The University of the Cumberlands Volleyball team is set to compete in the annual &quot;Dig for the Cure&quot; tournament hosted by Shawnee State University.  The tournament will take place, October 10-11, 2008, with Shawnee State, Bluefield State College, Urbana University, Asbury College, and the University of the Cumberlands competing.  All players will be wearing pink uniforms, while Shawnee State is hoping to fill with the stands with fans in pink from head to toe. </description>

The Patriots defeated their Mid-South Conference East opponent by a score of 42-7 as they advanced their record to 4-1 overall while Pikeville fell to 1-4 on the year.</description>

The Cumberland men competed in the 8k and finished in 27th place with a team total of 720 points. The ladies defeated the Cavaliers of Montreat College on the road, 3-1 before dribbling down visiting St. Catharine College 6-0 on Saturday, October 04, 2008.  </description>

    <description>The National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced their 164 semi-finalists for the 2008 Draddy Trophy this past Wednesday.  Among the semi-finalists was University of the Cumberlands football student-athlete Josh Frosch of Corbin, KY.  Out of the 164 selected, Frosch is just one of only 12 nominees from the NAIA.</description>

    <description>On September 25, 2008 the University of the Cumberlands Men and Women's Tennis teams competed in the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Southeast Regional Tournament at Georgetown, Kentucky.  The tournament drew the best players and the best teams in the southeast region to see who would advance and compete at the national tournament.</description>
