Carlsson & Watkins Named Ping All-Americans

The University of the Cumberlands Men’s Golf Team had a spectacular year in 2009-2010 as they competed in the NAIA National Championship in Illinois.

The NAIA Ping All-America Teams were recently announced and both Pierre Carlsson (Oxelosund, Sweden) and Aaron Watkins (Harlan, KY) were listed among the 30 recipients of the award. Carlsson finished tied for 8th at the National Tournament while Watkins finished tied for 52nd.

Carlsson was named to the 2nd team for this award while Watkins was a 3rd team member. The Ping All-America Team is voted on by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

When asked about his players receiving this high honor, Head Coach Chris Kraftick said, “Both of these guys had great seasons. The recognition for both is great for them individually and for us as a program. We’re very excited about this achievement and are very proud of both for their performances throughout the year.”
