University of the Cumberlands Tennis 06-07 Season Review
After a rebuilding year during the 05-06 season, the Patriots made significant progress during 06-07 action. The men’s team finished with a much improved record of 10-13, while the ladies had a 6-14 conclusion.
Competing against conference rivals Lindsey Wilson College, Georgetown College, Campbellsville University, Pikeville College, and West Virginia Tech, both teams were able to earn a top four finish in the Mid-South Conference. The Patriots also competed against local programs from Carson Newman College, Centre College, Eastern Kentucky University, Lincoln Memorial University, Maryville College and Union College.
Losing only three seniors to graduation, the Patriots will retain key players for next season. Veronica Sizemore (Manchester, KY), Robert Porter (Corbin, KY), and Anthony Un (Malaysia) will surrender their leadership roles to All-Conference players Higor Silva (Brazil) and Mary Ngiam (Malaysia) and All-Conference Honorable Mention players David Spaggiari (Colombia), Juliana Negosek (Gape Girardeau, MO), and Haley Farris (Corbin, KY). With these great athletes to lead the way, the tennis team can only improve.
