University of the Cumberlands Women's Wrestling 05-06 Preview
Over the past several years, the Patriot ladies have continually claimed the title of the top women's wrestling team in the nation. This year should be no exception. The ladies return to the mat and prepare for one of the most competitive seasons the team has had in its history. With over 12 tournaments on the schedule and several team duals, the ladies have many opportunities to secure the spot of being the number one ranked team in America.
Returning All-Americans Jessica Medina (Pomona, CA), Suekoilya Shelly (Bedford, TX), Alaina Berube (Escanaba, MI), Megan Nevill (Claire, MI), Heather Martin (Lagrange, OH), Shelly Ruberg (Harrison, OH), Tabetha Golt (Chesapeake, VA), and Toccara Montgomery (Cleveland, OH) look to guide the young team to the top of their respective rankings.
Freshmen Jessica Gallippo (Thousand Oaks, CA), Warry Woodard (Smithfield, VA), Tara Williams (Kingston, WA), Jessica Jauck (Ramona, CA), Candice Hornbeck (Yorktown, VA), and Sherolynn Eppinger (Warrensville, OH) will lead the group of new faces. With a large and talented freshman class, UC can expect to see many new medalists in this year's competitions.
Cumberlands schedule is packed with many opportunities for international competition. Many of the tournaments will contain wrestlers from around the world to provide a challenge to our ladies. The team will travel throughout Canada and to various locations in the United States such as Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New York, and Ohio.
The Patriot ladies open this year's season with a scrimmage against the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario on September 30, 2005.
