Roadtrip!

What are weekends for? Usually, they’re combined with semi-equal distributions of Disney movies, comfort food, and homework. However, recently over the lovely end of week, I went to Cincinnati, Ohio to see Hillsong United in concert, as well as do a service project the next day. The trip was sponsored by the BCM, Baptist Campus Ministries. There was pizza and singing and games, oh my! It was quite a joyous sojourn.

We weren’t the only ones at the concert, obviously. Some other colleges were involved as well, such as Eastern Kentucky University and Northern Kentucky University. After the concert Friday evening, we all went and hung out at NKU’s BCM building, where food was provided, games were played, music was loud, and smiles were many. Once our late night came to crash, we awoke the next morning and split up into our work groups for the different sites we had signed up for. The work sites were at homeless shelters, houses, and camps. I signed up to sort clothes at a homeless shelter. Others repaired houses, talked with troubled teens, played with kids, and other service-like things. I know it’s so cliche, but I’m really thankful for the opportunity to go, because I met some new people, from other campuses and from my own campus.

It was awesome to see other BCM’s growing and reaching out, because that’s what BCM is all about… serving others. What a great opportunity that I actually took. I hope to go on more trips like this, mainly for the time I got to spend with the UC people. I still don’t know that many of them, and I loved every talk I had with each person, deep or small. I can’t wait for the other trips yet to come. That’s the great thing about Cumberlands; there’s always something going on! So get involved in whatever you dig and you’ll keep busy with the best of things. Currently, I’m going to finish my Algebra homework and pick out a Disney classic for the upcoming weekend. What are you up to? You should comment your plans!
