Ah, Thanksgiving. Family gatherings. Such sweet memories made… would you like to hear of the Davis family’s charming endeavors? Allow me to inform you of the most pleasant news from back home:
We found a mouse in the house.
SO… we got a kitten! She is furry and gray and cute and quiet and I really don’t care for animals, but considering this is our fourth one, I ought to at least enjoy one of ‘em. We have a dog named Lucy, a turtle named Ricky, a hamster named Buster, and now a kitten named Ethel. All we’re missing is a Fred and we’d have the whole I Love Lucy clan! I’m sure you’re wondering why we named the hamster Buster… well, he doesn’t actually live with us; he happily lives in my Mom’s school classroom. So what good would a Fred that lives far away do for the four-legged family?
As riveting as these creatures are, I simply don’t really care for them. But I don’t really live at home, so it doesn’t realllly matter. My little sister, Hannah, adores animals. She is so sweet and very creative. Over Thanksgiving break, she made a car out of playdough! And she’s always drawing pictures and writing me sweet notes. One time, when I was sick, she wrote me a little encouraging note and I keep it in my wall in case I get a cold. I just love that girl, and I’m glad I got to spend time with her over the break.
At this point you may think I just have one sister. There’s more! I have an older sister (Hillary) who is married (to Cody), an older brother (Zach) who is married (to Sydney), a little brother (Zeb) in high school, and a little sister (Hannah) in elementary. We’re pretty much all blonde-haired and blue-eyed, except for my younger brother has brown eyes and my little sister is adopted from Guatemala, so I mean, she has a pretty nice tan and all.

Mi familia! The front row? From the left, Hannah, Zach, Dad, and myself. The back row: Sydney, Cody, Hillary, Zeb, and my Mom.
I love my family. I’m really glad I got to go home and spend time with them, even though a mouse joined us for a while. And even though I’m back at school and have 3 whole more weeks to go, I’m really alright with that. I am content. I had a great break, and I’m just as thankful for the next three weeks of school as I am for Christmas break.
Well, off to do homework! Exams will happily greet me tomorrow.
-H. Davis
