Hello readers. Guess what? Finals week is OVER. History. Gone, like Frank Sinatra. Except Frank Sinatra still solidly singing to me on Pandora. At any rate, the most glorious part of finals is that afterwards comes break. For nearly a month I get to be home! And I’m home now. Andy Griffith is on my TV, and I can hardly even type to you, because my little self is so excited. No more classes, no more studying, no more 8 AM’s! Now I get to look forward to relaxation, family time, and plenty of Christmas movies.
I’m very pleased with my grades, but I’m quite nervous about next semester. I started ordering my books today, and decided to try to the Amazon route this time. What if it doesn’t work? What if they don’t ship out when they say they will? What if someone hacks into my account and withdraws extra? My mind is at the million mile marker with What If’s. I’m sure it will be fine, but, I’m not really sure. I’m just saying that so I feel better.
I came home on Wednesday (my last final was that morning) and got to visit my Youth Group at Church. They were having “Senior Christmas,” where the high school seniors get to plan the whole night. At the very end, each senior dedicates an ornament to someone who has really influenced them throughout the years. One of my dear friends is a senior and dedicated her ornament to three people – one of them being me! I was so happy I got to be there to hear her tear up with grateful words. Some friendships are just life-changing like that, you know?
After Youth Group, we packaged assortments of food into bags for a backpacking program for underprivileged kids. Then, I went and ate with another Youth Group friend. Guess what we talked about? College! Because that’s what everyone’s always asking me about nowadays. How’s college, Hayley? Are you studying? Have you made friends? But I really don’t mind answering; I’m glad they care. I keep telling all my friends in high school that they need to be visiting universities ahora mismo – right now! I always mention UC’s Campus Discovery Day (February 16th! Register here: https://www.ucumberlands.edu/admissions/discovery/ ), but I don’t want people just visiting the lovely Williamsburg. They need to visit everywhere! I cannot stress it enough, guys… visit colleges. Talk with them. Walk with them. Ask tons of questions. It really helps when you’re stressing out that senior year and have to decide. I’m truly happy with my decision, and I want everyone else to be as well.
Well, that’s my rant. I’m gonna go watch another episode of Andy Griffith now and not study for anything in particular.
