Well, the weekend has come and I had survived a whole week without my mommy! My Thursday classes were very easy this week since I got out of both around 30 minutes earlier than we were supposed to because we only went over the syllabus and were done. Then Friday came and it was the weekend. On Friday, it was a little boring because both my roommate and my other friend went home for the weekend, but it still turned out pretty good since I got invited to play Frisbee and we played for about 2 hours – I was dead.
Then came Saturday and my family came over and visited me and I showed them my dorm room. We also went to the UC volleyball game. Then after that is when the fun began. I got invited to go caving with by my new friend Ezra Anderson and his friends. Now I had never been caving, and didn’t know what to expect and I wasn’t going to go at first, but it was about 3:50 and Ezra texted me and said wear dirty clothes, bring a change of clothes, and a flashlight. So, me being the outgoing person I am, on impulse I said to myself – “Why not, it’s not like I have anything better to do!” Plus you can’t just say “No” to Ezra. So I packed my stuff and went to meet them in front of Archer and after everyone was there and ready, we embarked on our caving adventure.
Our destination was Mt. Vernon, KY, about 30 to 45 minutes from Lexington. We were finally to the entrance of the cave after what seemed like forever drive (due to my anticipation), plus the added excitement since I had never been caving before. Before we got to enter the cave, David and Brett had to go over a few rules to know while caving.
When we got in, the air was chilled compared to the nice August air. The whole experience was very exhilarating, from getting muddy, to crawling through places that were shoulder length apart for me, to scaling a wall which was really sketchy, and then swimming in ice cold water in the cave with about a foot of mud (not including the water) to get to the exit of the cave. As soon as we got back to the cars, I asked when we were going again because it was so just so fun and exhilarating and just an awesome way to make new friends and bond with them on a different level! Caleb was back on Sunday and we went to church with Ezra and it was a great experience.
That wraps up my first full weekend at the BIG UC!!!
Peace out
