Position  Construction Trades Instructor
Requirements  •Current State of Illinois Professional Educator Licenses that can be considered as possible to meet the requirements for this position: A Standard Illinois Teaching License, Vocational License, ISBE Provisional Vocational, Substitute Certificate. •The vocational building trade’s instructor will be responsible for the classroom instruction and hands on application of basic Carpentry, rough and finish as specific to the project being worked on. •Responsible for teaching basic residential house wiring, basic residential plumbing, basic HVAC as found in the residential sector. •Staff will use onsite training as well as appropriate field trips to job sites and or manufacturers, trade schools in the vicinity of the program site. •This staff will be responsible for setting up a basic shop, maintaining equipment in a safe working order and general shop safety instruction of students. The development of projects, to aide in the skills being developed during the school year. •We are looking for someone with prior teaching experience or the ability for the person to obtain a Vocational Professional Educator License. (4000 Hrs of documented work experience in the related field of construction.) •This person will work collaboratively work with academic teachers to bridge the academic and vocational skills required to graduate high school.
Responsibilities  •Provide students with career technical training instructions, direction and assistance in this career path. •Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior and training, coordinating with other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training. •Utilize all possible curriculum resources available. •Be responsible for adequate classroom preparation. •Utilize workplace language and behavior expectations in this career path classroom. •Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment. •Create educational and vocational partnerships within this career path to serve as real-world training environment
