Position  the I-71 Kentucky Regional Economic Development Task Force Coordinator
Requirements  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Working knowledge of: A. Public and private sector economic development processes and practices; B. Local, regional, state and federal economic development organizations; C. Business and Industry retention, expansion and recruitment strategies; and, D. Marketing methods for retaining and attracting new commerce; Skills needed: A. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; B. Analyze and evaluate economic and financial data; C. Develop marketing materials and programs to retain and expand existing business and industry, while attracting and recruiting new business and industry; D. Operation of computer software, including data basis and GIS system mapping; and, E. Work independently. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Any satisfactory combination of experience and training that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge and skills. Candidates should possess education and/or experience equivalent to a four year college degree in business or public administration, finance, economics, community development or a related field AND a minimum of three years professional experience in economic/business development program administration, community development or a related area.
Responsibilities  1. Identify and catalogue economic development sites located in Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Oldham, Owen and Trimble Counties (‘the I-71 Region’); 2. Develop, maintain and coordinate all economic and industrial data for the I-71 Region including GIS programs, and market research to develop competitive intelligence and trends scans; 3. Develop a request for proposals; obtain, review and analyze proposals, and oversee the development of a regional website containing a portfolio of economic development sites within the I-71 Region; 4. Implement business / industry retention, expansion and recruitment strategies, including but not limited to: a.) developing strategic relationships with commercial and industrial recruiters, ‘head hunters’, developers and realtors; b.) establishing and maintaining cooperative work relationships with local, regional, state and federal economic development organizations; c.) maintaining strategic relationships with existing business and industry, tourism partners, and I-71 Region local governments; and d.) assisting existing and potential companies with growth, expansion and site assistance; and, 5. Schedule time to equally cover I-71 Region, reporting to County Judge Executive within each region weekly, and to the Board, in writing, monthly, detailing use of time; status of efforts; and timetable for forthcoming month’s activities.
