Do you have an up-and-coming percussionist who needs musical training and hand development skills?
Do you have students who need direction in their practice habits and reading skills? Do your drummers need exposure to
quality experiences? The Cumberland Drum Camp is a marching percussion camp, including pit instruments, for high school
age percussionists and entering freshmen students planning to play in High School, College or University drumline.
James Corcoran, David Ratliff, John Willmarth and Eric Sokolowski will be available to help your students explore
the most important aspects of rudimental
drumming techniques and front sideline keyboard and percussion (pit) playing. The Cumberland Drum Camp develops leadership and
discipline through hands on, FUN learning of rudiments and exercises. We stress fundamentals! This one day drum camp will include a book of
exercises, cadences and instructions for the development of a single percussionist, drummer or full marching drumline. It's a great way to get
your students playing again and to help them be prepared for the upcoming marching season.
Located in the beautiful mountains of Southeastern Kentucky, The Cumberland Drum Camp will be held at the Grace
Crum Rollin Fine Arts Center on the campus of the University of the Cumberlands, in Williamsburg, KY on Saturday, June 13, 2009. Check-in will
begin at 8:20am and the first meeting will take place at 9:00am. Lunch is provided and an exhibition performance for parents by the camp students
will be at 5:00pm. Participants will be required to bring their own instruments and appropriate sticks and mallets. Pre-registration fees are
$45/student if registered by June 4th, and $55 if registered after June 4th.
