UC English Department Offers Online Graduate Classes

WILLIAMSBURG, KY. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) is pleased to announce the offering of English credits online.

Students may earn graduate credit in ENOL 534: Studies in British Literature or ENOL 535: Studies in Modern Literature. Each course may be repeated three times if the subject changes. All of the graduate classes are taught completely on line by faculty members holding terminal degrees in the subject.

According to Dr. Tom Frazier, UC Chairman of English and Modern Foreign Languages, “These courses were originally designed for students in our EdD program seeking content hours beyond their degree to prepare them to teach in college. However, others have shown interest by enrolling for credit in our MAT programs and for their local school needs. We are pleased to see a growing interest in these courses which allows us to expand our offerings and to further contribute to teachers’ educational needs both in our immediate service area or, for that matter, anyplace accessible by computer. I have had students from as close as Whitley County and as far away as Minnesota.”

Three courses are in the offering for upcoming academic terms. During the second summer graduate term beginning in July, Dr. Tom Fish will teach ENOL 534: Victorian Literature. In the fall, Dr. Cristy Hall will teach ENOL 534: Wordsworth during the first graduate term and Dr. Tom Frazier will teach ENOL 534: Early British Gothic Fiction during the second graduate term. In the spring, the curriculum will revert to ENOL 535: Studies in Modern Literature, the subjects still to be determined.

Students interested in these courses should contact Dr. Tom Frazier, Chair Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages for course offerings, Dr. Barry Vann for potential use in the EdD program, or Dr. Robert Heffern for applicability of the courses for other graduate programs in education.
