Gilreath Receives Lovett Scholarship at UC


Presenting the award to Amber is Dr. Tom Frazier, Chair of the Department and Professor of English at University of the Cumberlands.

Williamsburg, KY - Amber Gilreath (Pine Knot, Ky.), was named the recipient of the2011 Virginia Lovett Scholarship presented by the University of the Cumberlands Department of English.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a rising junior English major showing promise and is selected by the department’s faculty.

The Lovett scholarship was created by family members of Mrs. Lovett, a long-time member of the school’s Department of English.

Amber is a 2008 graduate of McCreary Central High School and is the daughter of Clay Gilreath and Susan Matthews.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; nine graduate degrees, including two doctorates, a specialist, and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
