UC to Host Carnival, Fireworks & a Movie for Homecoming Festivities

Williamsburg, Ky. – On Friday, October 28, through Sunday, October 30, University of the Cumberlands (UC) will be hosting Homecoming “Thriller” Weekend.

On Saturday, Homecoming festivities will include a carnival starting at 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Briar Creek Park. The carnival will have a corn hole tournament, food, games, a balloon artist, a face painter, inflatable’s, Author’s Row book signing, music by Rayford Watts and Virgil Bowlin, and many more fun activities including reunions for the honored classes and the Alumni Board Auction which starts at 11:00 a.m.

The carnival is free of charge to all those wishing to come have fun with all the different activities and booths. After your done at the carnival, walk on over to James H. Taylor, II Stadium to watch the Patriots football team compete against Belhaven College at 1:30 p.m. where admission prices are waived in exchange for two canned goods to help feed the community this holiday season.

A fireworks show will start at 8:30 p.m. on the band practice field at UC followed by a movie in the O. Wayne Rollins Center also located on the UC Campus. The fireworks are being presented by Pyro Shows out of Lafollette, TN; additional fireworks will be provided by Thunder Sam’s Fireworks from Jellico, TN. The movie being shown is Captain America: The First Avenger. Both events are free to everyone wishing to attend.

All Cumberlands alumni should register at the Smiddy Building at the north entrance when they arrive on campus. Registrants can vote for Alumni Board members and become eligible for prizes. Registration will be open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
