U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R)-KY Speaks at Cumberlands


U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R)-KY spoke to University of the Cumberlands and the community on Monday, October 24th at UC’s Convocation in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Williamsburg, Ky. — U.S. Senator Rand Paul (KY) addressed University of the Cumberlands (UC) students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the surrounding community on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the weekly UC Convocation in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Senator Paul spoke to those in attendance about his view of government and the current state of affairs the country is in including the growing debt and the value of the U.S. dollar.

Senator Paul commented, “Our great country is rapidly being taken away from us unless we do something to get it back.” He spoke about the importance of citizens being engaged in government and how participation could help address issues that the country is facing.

UC Convocation generally meets on Mondays or Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m., as well as for other specially scheduled programs. Each convocation program provides a time for students to come together for worship or some other special emphasis.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
