University of the Cumberlands SGA Names Honored Professors

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands’ (UC) Student Government Association (SGA) presented awards to the group’s honored professors during halftime at this year’s Homecoming game.

“Each year the Student Government Association presents two professors, one male and one female, with the award. The purpose of the Honored Professor Award is to recognize professors that have devoted their time and energy into improving the quality of education and life on the University of the Cumberlands campus. These professors have displayed high levels of Christian values and have proven that they possess a genuine interest in working with students on a personal level,” said John Leistner, SGA president.

The male recipient for 2010-11 is Dr. Bob Dunston. Dunston has been teaching in the religion department for 29 years. He is currently serving as the Chair of the religion department and is also the Franklin P. Owen Professor of Missions.

The female recipient is Ms. Jane Carter. Carter has described her most important responsibility as teaching. She is actively involved in developing opportunities for UC students to study abroad and she serves as the Chair of the International Studies Committee in addition to her teaching responsibilities in UC’s business department.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees; more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
