UC student Megan Sasko presents senior recital

Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) student Megan Sasko presented her senior vocal recital on Saturday, March 3 in the Nell Moore Recital Hall in UC’s Grace Crum Rollins Fine Arts Center.

A mezzo-soprano and alto, Sasko performed a variety of selections, including an Italian set (a set is typically two to five songs), German set and Sacred set. She also performed some Broadway and popular music, including a duet with fellow UC student Whitley Wells Bird. She was accompanied on the piano by UC music instructor Kay Dawn McFarland.

Originally from Wellington, Ohio, Sasko moved to Williamsburg, Ky. in middle school and graduated from Whitley County High School in 2008. She looks forward to her upcoming May graduation, when she will receive a B.S. in music.

“It feels amazing to be graduating soon,” said Sasko, who will marry her fiancé, William Hinkle, six days after graduation.

Sasko’s choice of study—music—was part of a higher calling.

“I pursued music because I believe it is the Lord’s calling on my life. I have a responsibility to fulfill and not only fulfill, but master,” she said, quoting Ecclesiastes 9:10. “I believe God has a place in mind for me to use it. I just have to find it.”

After graduation, Sasko hopes to find work singing in the Pigeon Forge area, having performed at Dollywood last summer. She is the daughter of Chris and Terry Sasko.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of student; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master's degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
