Cumberlands Singers present Spring Concert

Williamsburg, Ky. – On Thursday, April 12th, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cumberlands Singers performed their annual Spring Concert in the Nell Moore Recital Hall. The Cumberland Singers consisted of 65 students this semester.

The music performed at the concert covered a wide range of styles with two parts to the concert. The first half consisted of sacred choral selections, some contemporary Christian pieces, and a moving secular piece. The second part to the concert featured a Disney medley of tunes performed by the women of the Cumberland Singers.

The men of Cumberland Singers got their own part in the concert as well singing “Louie, Louie” and “Wild Thing!” A “surfin” medley choreographed by Stacey Edwards Wilhite was also performed by the entire Cumberland Singers group and featured Cody Hurts, Katie Thomas, and Chelsea Burchfield with solos. The concert was concluded with the entire Cumberland Singers group for the finale of “Twist and Shout.”

The Cumberland Singers is a Choral group at UC open to any student that is interested in signing. There is no audition for the group and students who register for the class receive general education course credit and a small stipend.
