Amanda Silva Receives Public Health Award at UC


Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands student Amanda Silva (Turlock, CA) was presented with the 2012 Public Health Award on Monday, April 23rd, at UC’s annual Honors Day Convocation.

Silva is a double major in Public Health and Biology at UC and is involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Student Government Association (SGA), the Alchemist Club, the Beta Club and the Patriot Adventure Club.

While at UC, Silva has completed a public health internship at Jellico Community Hospital and the Veterinary Clinic. She has also completed a biology field study at the Belize Foundation for research and environmental education.

Upon graduation Silva will be applying to veterinarian school where she will study veterinarian medicine. She is the daughter of John and Michelle Silva of Turlock, Calif.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
