Natalia McClellan Receives Mathematics Award at UC


Williamsburg, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands (UC) student Natalia McClellan (Taganrog, Russia) received the 2012 Esther A. Compton Mathematics Award at the UC Honors Day Convocation on Monday, April 23rd, at the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

McClellan was also recognized for High Honor for maintaining a minimum 3.85 grade point average, and was named to the University’s Highest Honor when she was inducted into the J.T. Vallandingham Scholastic Honor Society.

The Esther A. Compton Mathematics Award is based on academic achievement within the major followed by overall academic achievement. Accepting the award, McClellan was also given the Encyclopedia Dictionary of Mathematics.

McClellan is mathematics major and plans to enter graduate school in the fall. She plans to pursue a career teaching college math.

McClellan is the daughter of Olga Glazneva and Alexander Glaznev of Taganrog, Russia, and the wife of Cory McClellan, Assistant Professor of English at the University of the Cumberlands.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
