Cherry Rose Receives Spanish Award at UC

Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) student Cherry Rose (Corbin, KY) was the recipient of the 2012 Excellence in Spanish Award on Monday, April 23rd, at UC’s annual Honors Day Convocation. The award recognizes Rose’s excellence in high academic achievement in Spanish classes, enthusiastic participation in class discussions and deep interest in Hispanic culture.

Rose is a double major in Spanish and Biology and upon graduation plans to attend graduate school to become a surgeon or Physician’s Assistant.

Rose chose to study Spanish for several reasons.

“I wanted to broaden my outlook on the world, as well as gain the ability to communicate with many people I would not have been able to previously, both within and outside of my career,” she said.

Rose is the daughter of Ronnie and Billie Rose of Corbin, Ky.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
