Laura Wilson Receives Rita Moore Award at UC

Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) student Laura Wilson (Cincinnati, OH) was presented with the 2012 Rita Moore Endowed Scholarship Fund Award on Monday, April 23rd, at UC’s annual Honors Day Convocation. Wilson was chosen by a committee who seeks to assist an admissions work study student.

Wilson has worked in the UC admissions office for two years and earned the award based on her work ethic and character.

“Laura is one of the best workers I have had the opportunity to supervise,” said her supervisor. “She is dependable and always willing to help her coworkers. She has a strong work ethic and a great attitude.”

This award was established following the 2001 death of admissions office manager Rita Moore. During her time at UC, Moore supervised a number of workstudy students and came to love many of them dearly. When she died, her husband Dr. Moore established the fund to recognize and assist an admissions workstudy student. The recipient is to be chosen by a committee appointed by the admissions director.

Wilson is the daughter of Lenville and Janice Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a double major in biology and public health.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
