Kathleen Edwards Receives Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Monday, April 23rd, University of the Cumberlands (UC) held their 53rd annual Honors Day Convocation in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. The program honors students, faculty/staff, and special guests for their hard work and dedication throughout the academic year.

One of those honored was Kathleen Edwards (Calhoun, GA) who received the 2012 Kappa Delta Pi Scholarship Award.

Kathleen is completing her certification in special education, Spanish and elementary education. She is a member of the Kentucky Education Association Student Program and has a current GPA of 3.93.

Kathleen is a UC Presidential Scholar, has received the UC Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding Service in 2011 and 2012, and is active in mission organizations.

Upon graduation, Kathleen plans to secure a teaching position and remain active in her church.

Kappa Delta Pi is the International Honor Society in Education. Recipients of this award must demonstrate leadership skills, possess high moral and ethical standards, and exhibit the promise of becoming a professional educator of distinction.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
