Jerrid Neeley Named Presidential Scholar at Cumberlands

 


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Saturday, May 5th, University of the Cumberlands (UC) named Jerrid Neeley (Manchester, Ky.) a Presidential Scholar during their annual commencement ceremonies in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Honors research is conducted over a two-semester period within the last two years of college. Academically exceptional students are offered an opportunity for intensive work in their fields through advanced independent study or creative activity.

Upon graduation, Jerrid plans to pursue a career in the field of medicine. His research advisor was Dr. Julie Tan and his research paper is entitled: Chemical Recycling of Post Consumer Polycarbonate via Microwave Irradiated Depolymerization.

Jerrid, the son of Jerry and Carla Neeley, graduated with a major in Chemistry and Biology. He was also recently married to Kendra Sammons.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
