Alexandria Lawrence Receives Munro Memorial Prize from UC


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Saturday, May 5th, University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented Alexandria Lawrence (Louisville, KY) with the George S. Munro Memorial Prize at their annual commencement ceremony in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

The George S. Munro Memorial Prize in Pre-Medical Studies is awarded in honor of George S. Munro, a pastor and long-time board member at University of the Cumberlands by his son, Dr. Roger Munro, and his daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Munro. Dr. and Mrs. Munro give this award to the graduating senior pre-medical student who has achieved the highest grade point average through his or her college career in recognition of academic excellence and effort.

Alexandria has not only excelled in the classroom but has served as an example to help others. While maintaining her high GPA she has been a member of the Mentoring Program and has been named a Hutton Scholar for her volunteer work.

Alexandria, the daughter of Kathy Metz, graduated with a major in Biology. She has been accepted to University of Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine and plans to do something that involves children because she believes they are the future.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
