Cumberlands Students Receive H.N. & Frances Berger Scholarships


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Monday, April 23rd, University of the Cumberlands (UC) held their 53rd annual Honors Day Convocation in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. The program honors students, faculty/staff, and special guests for their hard work and dedication throughout the academic year.

Two of those honored were Silas Fiefhaus (Lily, KY) and Whitney Minton (London, KY) who received the 2012 H.N. and Frances Berger Foundation Endowed Scholarships.


Silas is a junior chemistry major with a minor in biology. He plans to attend medical school after graduation. Whitney is a junior biology major with a minor in public health. She plans to attend Cumberlands’ Physician Assistant program after graduation.

The H. N. & Frances Berger Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund was established at Cumberlands in 1983 by Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Berger to recognize exceptionally bright young people who have demonstrated high academic ability.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
