Cumberlands to Participate in Seminary for a Day Event

Williamsburg, Ky. – On Saturday, March 23rd the Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC) will be hosting Seminary for a Day: Practical Theology for Problematic Times in London, Kentucky at Corinth Baptist Church starting at 8:30 am.

The Kentucky Baptist Convention has teamed up with the North American Mission Board, LifeWay Christian Resources, Clear Creek Baptist Bible College, and University of the Cumberlands (UC) to bring Biblically sound ministry tools to the residence in the London area. The cost of admission to the event is $20.00 and includes lunch.

There will be three guest speakers at the event including UC’s Professor of Missions and Ministry and Department Chair Dr. Bob Dunston and Associate Professor of Missions and Ministry and Director of the Graduate Program in Christian Studies Dr. Keith Goforth.

"This event will be a great opportunity for pastors and church leaders to hone their ministerial skills and network with other leaders," said Dr. Goforth.

Dr. Dunston will be leading his session on Life in New Testament Times. He will explore what it was like to live and worship in the first century A.D. as he examines how things have changed and still connect from the different time periods. Dunston is also going to explain how individuals can help others better understand the world and text of the New Testament.

Dr. Goforth is going to go deep into his topic on Ministering to Families in Crisis. His session will be focusing on helping equip church leaders and pastors with the skills necessary to minister effectively to individuals and families in crisis. He will discuss the Biblical foundation for family and the resources and techniques to meet the needs of the congregation.

“I always enjoy teaching and learning from students and ‘Seminary for a Day’ will not be an exception,” said Dr. Dunston. “We all need refreshers to help us serve Christ better and I am delighted to participate in this program.”
