Von Hertsenberg presents senior art exhibit at Cumberlands

Williamsburg, Ky. — University of the Cumberlands (UC) senior Marie Von Hertsenberg presented her senior art exhibit at UC’s J.M. Boswell Art Gallery during the week of April 22-27. A reception for the senior was hosted by the UC art department on Friday, April 26.

Von Hertsenberg’s work is bright and colorful, and she has most recently been focusing on beach motifs. Shocks of bright pink show up in several of her pieces, even those inspired by nature.

“As an artist, there are two things that interest me: color and energy,” said Von Hertsenberg. “I hope that by looking at my art works and seeing the color intensity, people will understand and get the same feeling. I am not interested in melancholy; I want it to be a joyous experience.”

Von Hertsenberg came to UC on a swimming scholarship and went to the NAIA swimming nationals four years of five. She plans to manage a pool this summer while she looks for permanent work.

Von Hertsenberg will graduate this May with a degree in art and a minor in psychology. She is the daughter of Terri and Kevin Von Hertsenberg of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; twelve graduate degrees, including two doctorate, two specialist and eight master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
