Joshua Slusher Receives Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship


WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.- University of the Cumberlands Department of Music recently awarded the 2006 Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship to Joshua Slusher of Flat Lick.

Slusher, a junior instrumental music education major, is the son of Shirley and John Slusher. As the scholarship winner, he will perform with the music department faculty in the Phyllis Richardson Wood Scholarship Concert being presented in the fall of 2006.

The Scholarship is awarded each year to a music major, sophomore or above, who has excelled in the areas of academics and performance. It is in honor of Phyllis Richardson Wood who was an active supporter of the University of the Cumberlands (formerly Cumberland College) music department.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in its 117th year of operation. Cumberlands offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs, as well as online and accelerated, nontraditional programs for adults.
