Edwin Corgiat receives the T.E. Mahan Award


Williamsburg, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands (UC) presented Edwin Corgiat (Norris, TN) with the T.E. Mahan Award during the 54th annual Honors Day Program on Sunday, April 21st.

He was also named to the University’s Honor Roll. Students recognized for this honor must attain a minimum of 3.70 cumulative grade point average standing.

Edwin, the son of Ed and Phyllis Corgiat, is a junior biology and chemistry double major that has maintained a high GPA throughout his time at UC.

Edwin works both as a peer tutor as well as an RA on campus. He has also been a member of the soccer team, the environmental club as well as the student government association.

After graduation Edwin plans on entering an MD/PhD program. He has been recently accepted into the Summer Undergraduate Research Program at Emory (SURE) where he will continue to gain research experience towards his goals.

The T. E. Mahan Memorial service award is awarded to a man of the junior class who possesses the qualities which indicate the potential for outstanding contributions to her community as well as manifesting the best qualities of potential service to society. Each candidate must possess good academic standing and accords himself with the high moral standards of the university.
