Kelsey Dew honored as the H.N. and Frances Berger Award winner


Williamsburg, Ky. – On Saturday, May 4th University of the Cumberlands (UC) senior Kelsey Dew (Clinton, TN) was honored as the 2013 H.N. and Frances Berger Award winner during the University’s annual commencement ceremony.

The H.N. and Frances Berger Awards are given each year to honor the outstanding male and the outstanding female student from the senior class who have demonstrated leadership in, and service to, the University community and the larger community as a whole as selected by the Senior Awards Committee from nominations by faculty, staff, students and alumni. Recipients must also demonstrate sound academic achievements.

Dew, the daughter of Joel and Kendra Dew, is a graduate of Campbell County High School in Clinton, Tennessee. She will be receiving a degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics.

While at Cumberland she has maintained a high GPA and has been inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi honor society in Education. Kelsey has been a member of the UC Volleyball Team for four years and was recognized as a Mid-South Conference Champion of Character. She was the 2012 UC representative at the Mountain Laurel Festival in Pineville, KY. Kelsey has participated in many mission activities and is preparing for a 10 day mission journey in the coming summer months.

Upon graduation, Dew plans to become a successful teacher and high school volleyball coach, and to eventually begin a primary school at her church.
