Cumberlands Awards Deborah Carol Childress Scholarships

Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) awarded the Deborah Carol Childress Endowed Scholarships to Michael Prewitt of Whitley County High School and Tiffany Herron of Williamsburg High School.

Both students were honored with the scholarship announcement during their annual high schools’ awards night.

Michael, who is the son of Calvin and Tina Prewitt, is planning on majoring in English Education.

Tiffany, the daughter of Jerry Herron and Laurel Bowlin, plans to focus her studies in the area of Special Education.

The Deborah Carol Childress Endowed Scholarship Fund was created by Jonathon and Roger Powers, owners of Maiden Drug in Williamsburg in honor of their late niece. The fund is to benefit a graduating senior from Whitley County High School and Williamsburg High School that will be attending University of the Cumberlands in the fall following high school graduation. To be eligible students must be planning to have a career in teaching and study one of the various education programs UC has to offer.
