UC’s Mountain Outreach and North Carolina church build homes for the needy

Williamsburg, KY- University of the Cumberlands’ (UC) Mountain Outreach (MO) team has been laboring all summer building two homes for their MO summer home building project. One home is located in Canadatown in Williamsburg and the other one is located in Laurel County. Each week, volunteers from churches nationwide come to assist MO with their work. Recently, Peters Creek Baptist Church of Roseboro, North Carolina volunteered their time and helping hands to the production of the two homes.

“It is great coming to Williamsburg and working with Mountain Outreach! It has been an awesome experience,” said Peters Creek Baptist Church member, Janice Woody.

The church group consisted of members who had volunteered with MO in the past, some who made this year their inaugural trip, and others who promise they will do everything in their power to come back every year from here on out. MO and the need in the community made an impact on the hearts of the church members.

The group spent their week working on both the Canadatown site and the Laurel County site. Some of the volunteers had the opportunity to meet the home recipients and get a more realistic feel for the reason behind their good deeds.

“The MO team and MO Director, Marc Hensley are truly the ones who deserve the praise for all this hard work,” said Peters Creek Baptist Church member, Juanita Shelton. “We are so glad that we were able to come to Kentucky and help out but MO is the ones who make it possible for all of us and who have bettered the home recipients’ lives. We are so happy to have been a part of this and we hope to come back in the years to come.”
