Phelps joins Cumberlands staff as new Director of Media Relations

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Nancy Phelps has recently joined the staff of University of the Cumberlands as director of media relations.

“We are delighted to have Phelps join our staff. With her experience in so many different areas, we feel she is sure to bring innovation to the Media Relations Office,” said Dr. Jim Taylor, president of University of the Cumberlands.

Phelps, from Jamestown, Kentucky, was graphics specialist at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset for more than five years. Her duties included graphic design, photography, media placement and print purchasing. In addition, she was the volunteer coordinator, and assisted in the planning of community events at The Center.

She also has 12 years of experience in the printing and prepress industries in Portland, Ore., and Princeton, N. J., as production manager and customer service representative. Prior to that, she worked as traffic manager with advertising agencies.

“I am honored to be a part of the Cumberland family. With deep roots in Kentucky, I have a strong attraction to the legacy of the university. I’m excited about this opportunity to work with the students, faculty, and staff in promoting such a wonderful institution,” said Phelps.

Phelps is a graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University with a BFA in Visual Design.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Ky., is a private liberal arts college in its 118th year of operation. Cumberland offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and 9 pre-professional programs, as well as online and accelerated, nontraditional programs for busy adults.
